Hold Your Center
The most important thing I’ve learned from all of the animals is understanding how to energetically be in my own center.
It’s easy to wander through life being buffeted by all of the forces around us. The dog is barking excessively. The person that cuts us off in traffic. The weather. Work is asking for more than is humanly possibly by one person (and barely paying one person’s salary). The political scene is swinging wildly. There’s more on the to do list than could be accomplished in fifty life times.
The list goes on and on and on. And if we don’t know where our energy is at any given time, we’re going to be tossed around life a leaf in the storm.
The animals have taught me that it’s of utmost importance to know firstly where my energy is. How am I feeling today? What does my own energy feel like?
After you know that, then you can begin to experience the rest of the world from the center of the storm. The other energies are out there, they aren’t happening to you.
This is simple. Not easy.
Being aware of it is the first step.
And then putting it into practice, again and again and again. Because it will take practice. Some days you’ll be on your game, you’ll feel things around you without taking it on.
Other days you’re going to get mired down in it and feel like you still wouldn’t be able to see your way out if you had a 50 million candle watt light.
The important thing is to practice, over and over until it begins to become the norm. I promise it will.
One day your dog will bark, and you’ll realize that you can sit there in your energy, and their energy can be over there and it won’t matter.
Or the person will cut you off in traffic, and it will just be a thing that happened, it won’t bring up any energetic response in you.
Our world is fraught with stressful and challenging things.
How we move through the world is our choice.
There was a time that kind of statement would make me angry, so I understand if it feels impossible. I can assure you it is possible, and what’s on the other side of it is peace. And it’s so worth trying again and again to get there.
I also know this is a journey, not a destination. I expect to be practicing this for the rest of my life.
If we have any hope at all of being the change we wish to see, this is where it starts. It starts within, and with managing our own energy.
There is a time for anger, and a time for action. But those things are not going to be effective if we are not coming from our own energetic center.
There is also an immense amount of power in being able to pull others into your peace. This is how you do that. By knowing your own energy, and being in your own energetic center with so much conviction that others around you can’t help but find calm and ease.
How amazing would our world be if that was where we all focused our efforts?
